Sabbath Guest at RVC
Friday is a special day for every Jew to slow down and meet the Queen of Saturday.
Friday is a special day for every Jew; it's time to slow down, put aside all mundane errands, and meet the Queen of Saturday among family. It is a moment of oneness, spiritual renewal, and keeping traditions alive, which are passed through generations.
There is a wholesome project at RVC, "Sabbath Guest," which helps to spread the warmth, attention, and kindness to those who especially need it. Volunteers visit the elderly's homes to spend the Sabbath together, light up candles, say blessings, and spend the evening in a kind atmosphere. It isn't just a tradition; it's an opportunity to support those who lack the communication and give them the feeling of belonging to a community.

In February, we had two special occasions. On February 13th, we celebrated Tu BiShvat - the New Year of the Trees, which symbolizes renaissance, nature, and the connection of the human with the land of Israel. And on February 14th, RVC volunteers and teenagers from the youth platform "Haverim" went to the homes of the elderly to celebrate Sabbath together. For many of our beneficiaries, such meetings become an opportunity to feel the care, to spend time in nice company, and to share memories.

The "Sabbath Guest" project is important to everyone because it helps to save the memory, culture, and history of our nation, and it also gives the elderly happiness, communication, and the feeling of belonging to a community. Every one of us can make an impact to fill the lives of the elder generation with light and positivity.
