Cooking Together for Rosh Hashanah

The Healthy Food Basket project held the "Cooking Together for Rosh Hashanah" event, which brought together 25 people of different generations.

The RVC Volunteer Center always pays special attention to holidays, as they fill life with warmth, create an atmosphere of unity, and remind us of the values that are important to every family and community. Jewish holidays hold a special place - they carry deep meaning and become a time of joy, gratitude, and new beginnings.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, the "head of the year," which we celebrate this fall. It is a time for reflection, spiritual renewal, and hope for a good and prosperous year.

In anticipation of the holiday, the Healthy Food Basket project held the "Cooking Together for Rosh Hashanah" event, which brought together 25 people of different generations. Volunteers and the elderly participants gathered around a table to cook, share recipes, and create a festive atmosphere.

The menu was unusual and bright. Participants prepared a sweet and savory salad of honey, apples, pears, and cucumbers - a combination that surprised everyone, but proved very harmonious. The main course was a kosher roulade of eggs, cucumbers, and cheese. Many housewives took its recipe home to recreate in there. The meal ended with light desserts - a fruit mosaic and personalized salads in honey-filled cups.

But the holiday isn't just about treats. To better understand Rosh Hashanah traditions, quizzes and puzzles were prepared for the volunteers and the elderly participants. This added even more joy, laughter, and lively interaction to the day.

The event brought a sea of emotions, new acquaintances, and a sense of unity. It proved once again that holidays are an opportunity to bond. Jewish traditions help us unite, learn new things, and create warm memories that last a long time.
