Intensive on the topic «Autumn Jewish holidays»

For RVC volunteers, an intensive seminar was held on the topic «Autumn Jewish Holidays».

The seminar pursued a research goal, namely: to understand the essence of each holiday, the mood, the key historical background of each date and, of course, the main features and distinctive attributes and symbols.

The seminar program included the traditional acquaintance of the participants with each other. Particularly pleasing is the interest and return to traditions among volunteers who have recently begun their volunteer activities, as well as the desire to develop and expand their knowledge among those who have been interested in the life of the Community for several years.

Acquaintance gave a charge of energy and positive for further interaction, collective research and knowledge of Jewish traditions. A little later, the participants studied each holiday in detail, found a connection between each date and the next, got acquainted with the peculiarities of the Jewish calendar.

During the session, we managed a lot: 1. «Go visit» and «have a meal», observing all the traditions of Rosh Hashanah, in 5 impromptu Jewish families; 2. Get acquainted with the ritual of kaparot on the eve of Yom Kippur; 3. Each personally planned his own analysis of the outgoing Jewish year; 4. We got acquainted in detail with the preparation and holding of the holiday of Sukkot; 5. Understand the importance of the date of Simchat Torah in the Jewish calendar.

Enthusiastic volunteers did not have time to notice how quickly the time of the seminar flew by. We hope that the knowledge gained on this day will be remembered by our volunteers for a long time and will help them in communicating with children and the elderly, as well as in conducting thematic programs.
